Opinion of the Advocate General

Mr Advocate General Jacobs delivered his Opinion on 19 October 1989. He considered that the Court should declare that, by failing to adopt and to communicate to the Commission within the prescribed period the measures necessary to comply with Council Directive 84/450/EEC of 10 September 1984 relating to the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States concerning misleading advertising, the Hellenic Republic had failed to fulfil its obligations under Article 169 of the Treaty, and should order the Hellenic Republic to bear the costs.
