Regeringen beslutade den 16 februari 2012 att underteckna avtalet. Regeringen beslutade den 7 juni 2012 att underrätta IDEA om godkännande av avtalet. Avtalet trädde i kraft den 1 juli 2012 efter notväxling. Riksdagsbehandling: Prop. 2011/12:116, bet. 2011/12:UU15, rskr. 2011/12:230.
