REGULATION (EEC) No 1574/72 OF THE COMMISSION of 24 July 1972 fixing the denaturing premium for sugar intended for animal feed

THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COM­ 100/725 of 14 January 1972 laying down detailed MUNITIES, rules on the denaturing of sugar for animal feed ;

Whereas the measures provided for in this Regulation Having regard to the Treaty establishing the are in accordance with the Opinion of the European Economic Community ; Management Committee for Sugar;

Having regard to Council Regulation No HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION : 1009/67/EEC1 of 18 December 1967 on the common organization of the market in sugar, as last amended by Regulation (EEC) No 607/72,2 and in particular Article 1 Article 9 ( 8 ) thereof; The denaturing premium for white sugar is hereby fixed at 8-50 units of account per 100 . kilogrammes Whereas Article 9 (2 ) of Regulation No 1009 /67/EEC for a limited period until 30 September 1972. allows intervention agencies to grant denaturing premiums for sugar rendered unfit for human consumption ; Article 2

Whereas Article 2 (2) of Council Regulation (EEC) By way of derogation from Article 21 (2) ( a) of No 2049/693 of 17 October 1969 laying down general Regulation (EEC) No 100/72, the denaturing rules on the denaturing of sugar for animal feed, as premium referred to in Article 1 shall be paid only if amended by Regulation (EEC) No 2863 /71 ,4 provides the white sugar has been denatured under supervision that denaturing premiums shall be fixed only if total in an approved establishment and in accordance with sugar surpluses available for denaturing in the the process described in the Annex to this Community and the economic aspects of the Regulation . This process shall be indicated on the relevant denaturing premium certificate. proposed denaturing justify it ;

ANNEX

Denaturing process

Denaturing shall be effected by the homogenous admixture with 100 kilogrammes of white sugar of: either (a) 0-050 kilogrammes of octo-acetylsucrose; or (b ) 0-125 kilogrammes of garlic powder with 0-050 kilogrammes of powdered vegetable charcoal added ; or (c) 0-250 kilogrammes of ferric oxide.
